This battery charger and batteries have worked out great for us. We use them in two wireless Sennheiser mic setups we have at our church. Previously, we purchased a set of rechargeable batteries with charger at Walmart (Energizer brand), and while initially they got the job done we were finding that they were losing their charge a lot faster after only a couple of weeks. I started doing some research online and asking around and found that a lot of people were using Ansmann brand and considered them very reputable. We've had these batteries and this charger for a couple of months now and so far they are working out splendidly. They report a full charge after over 1.5 of use (including a pre-service mic check and the full length of the service). This is after a couple of month's use and they are still holding strong, already doing better than the previous Energizer brand battery sets we bought that were "Lithium" and several other overmarketed phrases for a battery that did not hold up very well.
In short, this charger and batteries have really impressed so far. Compared to other chargers that I've seen, price-wise they seem to be right on the money. The indicators on the battery charger are also nice and give a good idea on the progress of the battery charge. In the future, we will continue to purchase these batteries/chargers for sure.
I have been using Ansmann max E pro batteries in the wireless mics at church for about two years and have been very pleased with this product. I bought 2 sets and rotate them from charger to mics every Sunday morning, so each set gets charged about 26 times a year. I have never had a mic fail in worship or rehearsal. For spare mics and one used for announcements , I rotate once a month and have no problems between charges. Upfront cost for batteries and a good charger was less than half of my annual budget for disposable batteries. 2nd year was "free". Only ordering more because a "helpful" staff member decided to swap out batteries while I was on vacation one week and threw one set away. Decided to replace both sets and use the remaining old ones for remote controls.
I must clarify that I generally trust German-designed products since I find their ergonomic design superior in many cases. I recently bought a Panasonic BQ-CC17KSBA Battery Charger since it was highly rated and got good reviews. While that device works well to charge the batteries and is well constructed, it is difficult to use. The "feel" of inserting the batteries is imprecise, and it is a challenge to just push the batteries in without them slipping out of their slots. This Ansmann PL8 is at least as well made and finished, is much easier to use (inserting batteries), and has a very useful "Discharge" button which serves to drain all your batteries and recharge from a drained state. This is useful to level batteries, and in some (most?) cases will even recover some lost charge capacity. I bought it with 8 Eneloop AAA batteries - the same I got to use with the Panasonic charger. I've only been using them for a month and so far they seem to hold a charge as I expected. I would recommend this charger, especially at the price..
